Colonial Data Workshop
The Economic Research Southern Africa (ERSA) Economic History group will host a workshop this year and we are pleased to announce that a very special guest speaker, Robert Allen from Oxford University, will be participating. Bob has written several books, but is especially well known for his excellent work on the Industrial Revolution. For this he worked extensively with colonial data, compiling his own data sets. Bob will present some of his work at the workshop, and will also facilitate a discussion on colonial data and brainstorm research that could be possible using the data. The dates to save are 2-4 November 2011 and the workshop will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa. A Call for Papers will be issued in August.

Calls for Posters and Dissertations
Don’t forget that the WEHC 2012 also includes a Call for Posters and a Call for Dissertations. These present a great opportunity for young researchers in the field to showcase your work to an international audience.

Submit a poster proposal here by 1 March 2012.
See the instructions for submitting your dissertation summary here.
